ABOUT US

Letter from the Directors:
More and more med spas are being targeted by the Illinois Department of Public Regulation for violating regulations that are ill-defined, vague, and often unknown to the med spa community. The individuals who operate med spas are being targeted as well, often with dire consequences. Nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, and physicians serving as medical directors have had their licenses stripped with little or no warning. Fines of over $10,000 are being levied with regularity, and med spas themselves are being shut down after only one visit from an investigator.

In light of the growing crack-down against medspas, it is increasingly important for the Illinois med spa community to better prepare itself through education, resource sharing, and training. Perhaps more importantly, the med spa community and its members need to provide a singular, unified voice in support of the safe operation of med spas in Illinois.

The Illinois Medical Spa Association was formed with these goals in mind. We want to bring together businesses and individuals from the med spa community that represent a wide spectrum of professions, so that together the med spa community can ensure that it is educated on the State of Illinois' regulations, that it is informed when new regulations are passed, and that medspas are 100% compliant with state law. Moreover, we wanted to ensure that the med spa community could provide a unified voice to the State of Illinois so that our opinions on safety, training, and education are heard.
